The 2010 Dodge Nitro features a strong, aggressive exterior design, one that suggests power and commands attention because of its sharp, square corners, bold fenders, prominent in-your-face grille and stylish yet confident use of steel, aluminum, simple colors and sharp geometric design.
Two trims are available for 2010-SE and SXT. Both feature a 3.7L V6 producing 210 hp and 235 ft-lb of torque, with standard 4-speed automatic transmission putting that power to the ground. A 4.0L V6 making 260 hp and 265 ft-lb of torque is optional on the SXT and is mated to a 5-speed automatic. Both SE and SXT models are available in either 2- or 4-wheel drive form. Interactive Decel Fuel Shut Off (iDFSO), which reduces fuel consumption when it detects the vehicle is slowing down.
The 2010 Nitro has 65 cubic feet of space when the back seats are folded down. One popular feature is the Load ?n Go cargo floor that slides 18 inches rearward for loading and unloading. In addition, the Nitro can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. A 115-volt outlet is standard on all models.
The 2010 Nitro features stiff rear axles to help tackle challenging road conditions. Combined with an excellent braking system, driving-particularly on the highway-is smooth, even with a full vehicle.
The Nitro's safety features include anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, electronic stability control (which includes a "trailer sway" feature), active head restraints and multi-stage front airbags and side curtain airbags. Crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration earned the Nitro five of five stars in all frontal and side impact categories.
Standard equipment on the SE includes 16-inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, full-power accessories, reclining rear seats, tire-pressure monitor, heated side mirrors, remote keyless entry, and a 6-speaker CD stereo.
The SXT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, body-color exterior trim, privacy glass, heated power folding mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable driver seat, cruise control and the sliding Load ?n Go cargo floor with tie-downs.
Cruise control, an alarm and alloy wheels are optional on the SE, while a sunroof is available on either trim. A Navigation Package is available on the SXT and adds rear obstacle detection, an upgraded stereo, Bluetooth and traffic information.
